Aino’s interrupted journey to Berlin

Route

Helsinki (train)-Vyborg-St Petersburg-Pskov-Dünaburg-Kovno-Insterburg-Allenstein-Thorn-Posen-Berlin. Because of morning sickness during her pregnancy, Aino Sibelius returned to Finland at the beginning of April. Her brother Armas escorted her to Helsinki following the route shown above. Sibelius’s visit to Leipzig. Return probably by boat from Stettin.

During this long journey, Sibelius made contacts with the publishing house Breitkopf & Härtel, worked on his first symphony, took riding lessons and celebrated with his friends.
